Seeking source for ribbon/trim

Vintage Carpet thread.  Upholstery threads are heavier.

1 mm might be easier to make then find.

If you want to make your own braid,

200 Braids to Twist, Knot, Loop, or Weave by Jacqui Carey is a good source.

If you want to weave your own, check out an Inkle loom.  I just bought Bonnie Backe's Greta loom at the lunchtime auctions at Guild School 2023, but I haven't played with it yet.  It was donated by another student.

1 mm ribbon is hard to find, but you might find a 1 mm trim.  Linen cord used for jewelry can be dyed.  They sell pretty fine silk cord for jewelry at Hobby Lobby, that is white and can be dyed, too.

A normal braid can be very flat... with ordinary sewing thread.

and you can single stitch a single strand of DMC with a really, really small crochet hook.

Have you found what you need yet? Have you ever done kumihimo weaving. You can do a very fine flat or round braid. I learned it from Bonni Backe’s  Passementerie Class ar Guild School many years ago, but recently found a tutorial on YouTube, and did need a refresher class!
