Band Saw adjustments

The first band saw I ever bought was a second hand and it came with a run down old blade on it. Back then I thought that all I had to do was to put on a new one and off we would go. But I couldn't have been more wrong! So many variables came into play, it took me a while to (fine) tune it to make it run smooth again. Some of the articles on the site below proofed to be very useful;

Thanks, that is great information... I especially liked the one about carving canoe paddles on a band saw, I wonder if that would work on a Cabriole leg?

Thanks Susan, when I first bought my band saw, we quickly realized that fine tuning it makes a big difference in performance, there are quite a few good video's on the Fine Woodworking website too, you have to become a member though at a small monthly or yearly fee to have access to all their material, but in my opinion they are one of the best woodworking websites on the net with a wealth of information. Membership gives you access to lots of woodworking plans, videos etc as well as their magazine which I download on my iPad, compared to what the magazine would cost me in South Africa online membership is a great deal.

Bill, cabriole legs on the bandsaw in miniature, I guess you would need a really fine blade. Since I learned how to do pin-routing on a drill press with jigs...that is my favorite method for making cabriole legs, especially if I need to make a lot of them which I will need to do in June, going to need twenty legs for five Queen Anne tea tables. For anyone who is curious about this technique you can read more on my blog, just scroll right down, maybe when I make them I can write a tutorial for the forum.

 I use the bandsaw method for cutting miniature cabriole legs but I use my scroll saw. Works great!
