Well, I know it is too far for most of you but this is only a 40 minute drive from my home and I need to go to Joburg in any case next Friday, so I plan on popping in here since there will be artists from all over the world participating including our very own Beth Freeman-Kane. Although not 1/12 scale this exhibition should still be a feast for the eyes for a miniaturist.

And Beth is teaching a workshop specially for a group of local miniaturists on making my all time favorite South African bird, the Cape robin (I have some real ones living in my garden) next Saturday and Sunday, the first time she is teaching in SA, of course I signed up and am looking forward to it very much.

Well, here are the photos, countries participating were South Africa, USA, UK, Australia and Russia, and a few indepented artists, in the first photo the big block is all the SA and US paintings, about 60% from SA and the rest US, the three smaller cubes had the rest of the other countries work. The Russian art was all painted boxes.

All the rest of the photos are typical South African scenes from all over the country, I will post more over the weekend as I have time, going to be a busy weekend as I am doing a workshop with Beth Freeman-Kane on Saturday and Sunday until lunch time.

Thanks for posting these, Elga! Of course, I was particularly interested in the watercolors.

Here is a few close-ups of Beth Freeman Kane's work, the meerkats are my favorite, it brings back nice memories of a visit once to a zoo where a few of them tried to get us to come and play with them or something, running back and forth, standing right in front of us and chattering and gesturing, while one stood on guard all the time not moving a muscle, they are fascinating little creatures.

And then there was this piece containing these wonderful traditional American pottery which looked like they would fit into 1/12 scale perfectly, I wonder if this lady knows about our miniature world, I Googled and found this link that shows another of her pieces, she is from the US.
